Welcome to the show! The Storytellers Project presents "I am an American" at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Oct. 29.
These are tough times, but we'll get through it together. Join us for true, first-person stories from the lives of your neighbors, reflecting on what it means to be an American. They will tell their stories from their homes, using their devices, and Megan Finnerty, will emcee live!

What do you hope listeners take away from your story?
I hope listeners take away a desire to go out and have their own unique experiences in nature and the National Parks, and maybe the nudge to take a look at what institutions they love and how they can help make them more welcoming to all.
Who or what inspired you to tell this story?
I was inspired to tell this story because of the powerful impact that nature and the National Parks have had on me, and wanting as many people as possible to have that same transformative experience.
What do you hope listeners take away from your story?
I hope listeners obtain new knowledge about immigration.
Who or what inspired you to tell this story?
This was the first story. It was for a storytelling show in Phoenix called Storyline. The theme was “Brave New World.” When I heard the theme, a memory about me coming to the US came to my mind. That inspired me to tell this story. I was definitely coming over to a “new world,” a new way of life.
What do you hope listeners take away from your story?
I hope to open peoples’ minds to the fascinating diversity of Native Americans, and relate how self-representation can counter harmful stereotypes and why it’s important to support artists of color.
Who or what inspired you to tell this story?
I hope my story encourages young women from communities of color to explore their identities and strengthen their self-esteem through art.
What do you hope listeners take away from your story?
The value of focus and commitment.
Who or what inspired you to tell this story?
My grandfather, Mizell Stewart Sr.
